The Boyne Valley Canoe Association was founded in 2009 with the express purpose of giving young people an opportunity to develop skills in water safety and survival techniques, as well as giving all who participate an opportunity to get some worthwhile time enjoying the wonders of nature – water activities during the warmer months and other opportunities for the rest of the year, such as horse riding, archery, riding the flying fox and swings, camping, rock and mountain climbing, abseiling, etc, at Harmony Farm, Ubobo.
We wish to thank the Gladstone Area Water Board for the opportunity to permanently use a piece of land just down stream from the “Bush Camp” off the Monto Road about 30km south-west of Calliope. This gives us great access to Lake Awoonga.

We have had a number of outings each year, such as three day trips into Castle Tower and camping on an island in Lake Awoonga.
We have outings from Boynedale Bush Camp and Nellie Simpson. When the water levels are high it is an interesting time to go canoeing.
We do things such as climb to the top of Ubobos’ Mountain (Mt Robert). While it’s a bit cool for canoeing, the climb up Mt Robert is invigorating, full of natural wonders, wildlife, plants and flowers.
