Sharing Out the GoodiesTime to RelaxGood Days Driving
The Discovery Centre, Ubobo was lucky enough in mid October to have the Dunga Derby swing by bringing financial benefit to local service clubs, including the Boyne Valley Community Discovery Incorporated. We provided camping facilities and the evening meal for the 240 participants. The local LIONS were all on hand to have breaky done and dusted by 7:00am Sunday morning and the The Boyne Valley QCWA provided a take away morning tea. The local kids collected hats full of goodies and then sat and shared them out among themselves. What a great group of people and congratulations on your charity work- Rally for a Cause supporting families with life-limiting medical conditions or who have had their lives disrupted by circumstances beyond their control. May your good work continue and thanks for choosing the Discovery Centre, Ubobo as your Saturday night stop over. We really enjoyed your company.
In June the Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre received this welcome advice:
Thank you for your recent submission for funding assistance via Gladstone Region Council’s, Gladstone Region Rise Up fund under Council’s COVID-19 Human and Social Recovery Plan. Your request for financial assistance towards Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre Incorporated project “Ensure Insurance” has been assessed. I am pleased to advise that your application has been approved. Gladstone Regional Council, the Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre Inc thanks you sincerely. We had asked the Rise Up funding Program for assistance to ensure we could meet our annual insurance premium payments. When the premium arrived this week, in spite of Cocid-19 we had the funds there to meet our committments. Thank you for this much appreciated initiative. Our facilities, our volunteeers, our management committee members, our vehicles and our public liability insurance policies are now covered for another twelve months. What a relief.
“Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre Incorporated has secured support through Gladstone Regional Council’s Rise Up Fund. This initiative aims to support Gladstone Region’s not for profit sport, recreation, and community organisations who have experienced adverse impact during the Coronavirus COVID-19 health emergency.”
